Antibody Titre Testing

At Vet crèche we are happy to introduce VacciCheck. VacciCheck is a blood test that we can perform at the practice to measure antibody levels in your dog for Parvovirus, Distemper, and Infectious Hepatitis. By doing this we can determine their vaccination status and prevent consequences associated with over or under vaccination.

VacciCheck can be used in puppies around 18-19 weeks old to make sure that they have developed the antibodies they need to fight these diseases. Thereafter it can be used on a yearly basis as part of your dog’s annual wellness check to ensure that your dog is not over vaccinated. Over vaccination has been linked to inflammatory diseases such as encephalitis (inflammation of the brain), arthritis, and colitis and also immune mediated diseases and cancer.

We still advise a yearly kennel cough vaccination as there is currently no antibody test for this and kennel cough infections are much less severe if a dog has been vaccinated often not requiring any treatment.

We will accept antibody titres as proof of core vaccinations for entry into our dog day care service but dogs are also required to be vaccinated against leptospirosis and kennel cough.

The antibody titre test is £50

This price includes taking the blood sample, running the test and an annual wellness check.

Vaccinations are given at a reduced price when combined with antibody titre testing:

Lepto only: £15

Lepto + Kennel Cough: £30

DHPPiL only: £15

DHPPiL + Kennel Cough: £30
